Pitch Us

We want

  • One clear argument you can state in a sentence.
  • A news peg, or a reason this matters right now.
  • Lived experience, expertise, or reporting the reader can’t get elsewhere.
  • Specifics: names, numbers, places, documents.
  • Writers who have never been published before.

We pass on

  • Pieces already published or pitched elsewhere at the same time.
  • Personal attacks on private individuals.
  • Claims you can’t source when an editor asks.
  • Press releases, ads, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • AI-generated drafts submitted as your own writing.

Questions

Do I need to have been published before?

No. Many of our writers are first-timers. We care about the argument and what you know, not your résumé.

Should I send a finished draft?

Send the pitch first. If we accept, we’ll agree on the angle and length before you write, which saves you time.

Will you change my words?

We edit for clarity, length, and accuracy. You approve the final version before it publishes, and we never add an argument you didn’t make.

Can I write anonymously?

Sometimes. If using your name would put your safety, job, or legal case at risk, say so in your pitch. An editor must know who you are either way.

Who owns the piece?

You do. We ask for first publication rights. After it runs, you can share it, repost it, or include it in a collection.
